Day 2 – Thursday: REYKJAVIK–SOUTH SHORE  (ca. 380 km)
Explore the south coast of Iceland. Some of the highlights along the way:  the waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss; views of Eyjafjallajökull and Myrdalsjökull glaciers; the Reynisfjara black sand beach; Dyrhólaey;  the village of Vik with its black sandy beach stretching as far as the eye can see and impressive views of the Reynisdrangar stacks rising out of the ocean; charming coastal villages of South Iceland.

Day 3 – Friday: SELFOSS–THINGVELLIR-GEYSIR-GULLFOSS-KJOLUR/HVERAVELLIR  (ca. 420 km)
Drive to Lake Thingvallavatn with views of the steamy slopes of Mt Hengill. Visit the Thingvellir national park – the site of the old parliament and place of great geological interest.  At the Geyser area, we wait for most active geyser named Strokkur as it spouts impressively every 5-10 minutes. Another pearl in nature is the breathtaking Gullfoss waterfall (the Golden Falls).  The Kjolur highland route will give us the experience of the highlands driving between the Langjokull and Hofsjokull glaciers. At Hveravellir geothermal area with a natural pool, there is a chance to take a dip in its geothermal waters or take a stroll around the hot springs in this desert oasis. The day ends in the area of Miðfjorður.
Accommodation in a country hotel.

Day 4 – Saturday: LAUGARBAKKI–SNAEFELLSNES– REYKJAVIK  (ca. 500 km)
Travelling back south it is time for a detour to the Snaefellsnes peninsula which we can refer to as »Iceland in miniature«; practically all natural phenomena that exist all around Iceland can be found on the peninsula – only on a rather smaller scale! There are volcanic mountains and craters, lava fields, a glacier, waterfalls, sandy beaches, columnar basalt formations, bird cliffs, etc. Snaefellsnes peninsula is also the only area in Iceland where mineral water springs can be found. The day ends in Reykjavik for the last overnight stay.

Day 5 – Sunday: REYKJAVIK–KEFLAVIK – DEPARTURE  (ca. 50 km)
Drive to Keflavik airport in time for your international flight where you drop off your rental car. If departing in the afternoon or evening you have a possibility for a visit to the Blue Lagoon (admission needs to be pre-booked).

Note:
The itinerary can also be tailor-made according to your preferences and interests. Additional activities we can be added to the programme, e.g. horseback riding, sea-kayaking, river rafting, whale watching, glacial hike, caving, sightseeing flights, etc.

Upon booking and confirming the package, the detailed itinerary will be provided.
